About us.
After spending A LONG time researching, planning (and re-planning – several times) our recent USA road trip (and various other trips in last few years) it occurred to me that I’ve learnt so much! And that maybe my planning and travelling experience could help you plan your adventures
And with that, It is with great excitement that this travelogue was born.
As I write this though, I am wondering, if during the age of tik-tokking and influencing, if a blog is still a fashionable or useful thing? Will anyone read it?
But I still like to read a blog, which is why a written collection of travelogues, or a ‘blog’ is how I’m choosing to sharing my experiences, and I hope there are still people out there who’ll enjoy reading our travelogues and seeing our real, low-edited photos of some lovely places. I guess if you’re here, then maybe that’s you.
Hello, my name is Jen, and I want to see the world! With partner, Richard and teenager, Alex usually on board that is exactly our plan!
I suppose it would be pretty weird if I didn’t, (can you imagine a travel blog written by someone who wasn’t hugely passionate about it?!) However, I’ve not actually ‘travelled the world’ – look back to my previous statement “I want to see the world”. I’ve visited some UK and European cities, and a little of the USA but theres still so many more placea to see. So, I’m inviting you to come with us on our journey, travels and adventures.
I’ve researched, planned and visited the USA and Europe – we mostly like a city break or road trip, and have certainly learned a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t so I’ll be writing tips and hints (and giving you an inside view into my planning methods to use when planning your own trips) but the main focus will be sharing the tales and perfect pictures from our travels.
As we introduce ourselves, now might be a good time to explain our name, Picture Perfect Travelogues.
A travelogue is just a fancy way of saying stories or experiences from travel – its not a guidebook or list of recommendations, nor is it a diary or journal. We’ll be curating the story of our travels, a true account of the places we’ve seen and the things we’ve done.
And picture perfect, well from this you might be expecting glamourous, insta-ready photos – you know the ones I mean… but no – you can find enough of these on Instagram (where, incidenlty, you can also find us too…). By picture perfect, I mean the photos I share will be as true to real life as possible – they wont be heavily edited, filtered or AI-generated, they will show the beauty of places (or not) as they are, so that if you visited – you would find it as it as you see it in our perfect pictures.
So, what can you expect? Actually it might be easier to share what to not expect… there will be no backpacking, very little all-inclusive beach or pool lounging (not usually my cup of tea but sometimes you just need to lay by a pool and do nothing!), no camping or high adrenaline action packed adventures (there are loads of amazing blogs out there that do this if that’s what you’re into).
So, what will we include?
City breaks, road trips and actually seeing the places and countries we visit. Our travelogues and perfect pictures will show what it’s really like, they will share the feeling of being there.
If you want to really get a feel for a place, then welcome and I hope you enjoy, learn and maybe feel inspired to get out there and see the world too!
